Hanoi (VNA) – A consultation session on exporting to the Algerian market will be held on April 19 in Ho Chi Minh City as part of the activities of the national trade promotion program in 2022, according to the deputy director of the Trade promotion Agency of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIT) Le Hoang Tai.

This will be the 7th among 30 consultancy sessions on exporting to foreign markets organized by the agency in coordination with Vietnam’s overseas trade offices with the aim of helping Vietnamese companies expand the export market. of their products.


During the event, companies will be briefed on Algerian market regulations, standards, import and export conditions for a number of processed agricultural products and foodstuffs, Tai said.

According to Tai, Algeria is one of Vietnam’s main partners in Africa, and the two countries are striving to expand their relations in all areas, including economic, trade and investment cooperation.

Vietnamese trade advisor to Algeria Hoang Duc Nhuan said Algeria is a potential market for Vietnamthese goods.

There is a big scope for Vietnam to increase its coffee exports to Algeria, which currently accounts for 65% of the country’s total export value to this African market, he noted.

In addition, the country also has high demand for other Vietnam staples such as rice, pepper and cinnamon, cashew nuts and freshwater aquatic products, which it cannot produce. .

Nhuan said Vietnamese exporters should study the market carefully, especially its policies on tariffs, labor laws, payment methods, disputes and debt collection.

Statistics from Vietnam’s General Directorate of Customs show that bilateral trade between Vietnam and Algeria is still modest, with Vietnam’s export turnover to Algeria only reaching USD 153 million last year. and 30.6 million USD in the first quarter of 2022./.
