Many companies are concerned about labor shortages after resuming operations after the period of social distancing.

Many companies have encountered difficulties in resuming their activities.

HSBC Vietnam said Vietnamese businesses were facing major problems with disrupted cash flow, rising raw material costs and labor shortages.

Ngo Dang Khoa, Head of Markets and Securities Services at HSBC Vietnam, said: “The workforce has encountered many challenges in the midst of the epidemic and will continue to face even more once the epidemic is under control. . Businesses also have difficulty attracting and retaining employees. . These problems must be resolved quickly to ensure an economic recovery. “

These problems are even more pressing in textile companies which employ hundreds of thousands of workers. The Bac Giang Industrial Park Management Board said only half of the workers showed up after the social distancing period. Many workers were still wary of the pandemic, some had returned to their home province and were busy with personal matters and others were not reachable.

Le Quoc Viet, president of job search website Vieclamnhamay.vn, said the pandemic has caused deaths, unemployment and disrupted production lines. The workforce has now spread to many provinces and cities like Binh Duong, Dong Nai and HCM City.

“If measures are not implemented, the country’s GDP, competitiveness and investment attractiveness will be affected. We have prepared a campaign to help businesses get back to business and workers get back to work,” Viet said. .

Fourteen professional associations have sent letters to the Prime Minister wishing to resume their activities safely. According to associations, the industrial production index in August fell 49.2% compared to the same period last year. Eighteen percent of EU companies have transferred orders to other countries and many companies are on the verge of bankruptcy.

The associations have asked to give vaccination priorities to companies that implement a work retention program behind frontline workers, the elderly and people suffering from underlying diseases. Instead of a 14-day quarantine, workers should only need to test negative for Covid-19 when traveling between provinces to work, especially in provinces that have agricultural and fisheries production lines. People who have been fully vaccinated should be able to move around freely.

The associations also hoped to simplify procedures to allow foreign experts to work in Vietnam.
