Cuban Prime Minister and Vietnamese President agree to expand cooperation – Prensa Latina

They notably agreed to deploy joint efforts to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, as an expression of the solidarity that has traditionally accompanied the bonds of collaboration and friendship between the two nations, according to a local television report.

Vietnam has authorized the emergency use of Cuban Abdala vaccine. On Saturday in Havana, leaders of the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering, producer of the immunizing agent, and the Vietnamese Center for Research and Production of Vaccines and Medical Biologics signed a biotechnological cooperation agreement.

Marrero praised Vietnam’s progress in implementing the process of economic renewal, known in Vietnamese as Doi Moi, and stressed that it is consolidating itself as Cuba’s second largest trading partner and largest investor of the Asia-Oceania region of the island.

At the same time, Nguyen Xuan Phuc thanked Cuba for its collaboration in the fight against Covid-19, through technical scientific exchanges and the shipment of interferon, and congratulated the Caribbean country for the development achieved in the sectors of health and biotechnology.

He also expressed satisfaction with the good status of Vietnamese economic cooperation projects and investments in the island, and noted the potential for expanding bilateral collaboration in all fields.

the Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas; the ministers of foreign trade and foreign investment; Public health; Communications; Food industry; Agriculture; the Minister-President of the Central Bank and the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Marcelino Medina attended the meeting.

Before this meeting, the Vietnamese leader met the President of the Cuban Parliament, Esteban Lazo.
