The launch of the new Holiday Inn hotel in Grand Ho Tram delayed: op

The launch of the Holiday Inn Resort Ho Tram Beach (photo), a new hotel at the site of The Grand Ho Tram Strip casino complex in Vietnam, is now postponed to the “tentative” date of July 16, the operator of the complex told GGRAsia.

The new 502-room accommodation – under the Holiday Inn brand owned by InterContinental Hotel Group PLC (IHG) – was previously scheduled to open “end of June”. The new timing is due to “the situation of Covid-19 in Vietnam”, told us the operating entity of the Grand Ho Tram Strip, without further details.

Over the past week, more than “3,000” new cases of Covid-19 infection have been added to Vietnam’s national tally, the Vietnamese News Agency reported on Tuesday. Most of them were detected in Ho Chi Minh City, the major city closest to the Grand Ho tram strip. The country’s transport ministry has already approved proposals to suspend scheduled flights between the Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and several national cities, the state news agency said.

The Grand Ho Tram Strip, on the Vietnamese coast southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, was developed by the Ho Tram Project Company Ltd. The complex has a casino open only to foreigners.

InterContinental Hotel Group, owner of the InterContinental and Hilton brands, announced in 2019 that it was iPresentation of two of its hotel brands to the Grand Ho streetcar strip. One of those brands was the Holiday Inn; another involved a rebranding of the existing The Grand Ho Tram hotel to “InterContinental Grand Ho Tram,” according to an IHG announcement at the time.

The resort’s flagship establishment, the Grand Ho Tram Hotel, had already been renamed InterContinental Grand Ho Tram in mid-June, the operating entity of The Grand Ho Tram Strip confirmed to us.
