According to Nguyen Thi Luyen, head of the Central Institute of Economic Management, over the past decade, the number of private companies in the country has increased from 325,000 to 647,000, while the volume of their operations has multiplied. by 3.5.

These entities employ millions of workers with an average monthly salary of around $ 360, he said.

He noted that every year more and more of these companies are added to Vietnam’s 500 biggest list and six are among the biggest in Asia and the world.

However, he stressed that certain legal and administrative obstacles still hamper the development of the private sector, both internally and in its integration into regional and global value chains.

For his part, the former director of the Institute of Economics Tran Dinh Chien celebrated that private companies have received strong support from the government to survive the difficult conditions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

A few days ago, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced that a resolution aimed at promoting businesses, including the private sector, will soon be promulgated as part of the socio-economic recovery program.

To help rescue firms, the executive has disbursed millions of dollars, mostly in the form of low-interest loans, and reduced taxes and fees for services such as water, electricity and the gas.

Vietnam aspires to have 1.5 million private businesses by 2030, fully sustainable and capable of employing 10 percent of workers.
