Change of plan

Similarly, Thanh Cong Textile Garment company at Tan Binh Industrial Park in Tan Phu district, which employs more than 4,400 people, has arranged for F1 employees to work normally at the site for the past three months. .

Nguyen Huu Tuan, the company’s human resources director, said the factory also saw a high number of infections after the city reopened late last year. There was a time when the whole production line was stopped due to the increasing number of Covid patients and close contacts.

“Our company’s production costs increased when we had to pay at least 70% of wages to workers who could not work due to Covid. And we struggled to meet order deadlines.”

Also, some close Covid contacts didn’t want to stay home because they didn’t feel sick at all.

Faced with this situation, the factory changes its plans and lets close contacts return to work.

If a worker has been identified as a first-generation infection in close contact with an F0 at the factory, they can still go to work if they are vaccinated with two doses and wear a mask.

High-risk cases were tested more frequently and required to have their health monitored. Only close contacts who live in the same house with a Covid patient and cannot be quarantined separately had to temporarily stop working.

“By doing so, the company’s production has been secured, especially in times of labor shortages,” Tuan said.

Currently, about 80% of employees at the Thanh Cong factory have received three strokes, so the company boldly lets more close contacts return to work. I added.

Always careful

Covid’s close contacts have been divided into three groups by sewing machine producer Juki Vietnam in District 7.

Close contacts are only allowed to return to work if they came into brief contact with Covid patients at the factory. However, they must provide negative test results and the close contact group will work and eat separately.

If a close contact lives with a Covid patient who is a family member, they can return to work after five days as long as they have received all three shots, do not share a living space with the patient and have a negative rapid test result in hand.

Meanwhile, Japanese company Nidec Vietnam in Thu Duc City, has divided close-contact workers into low-risk and high-risk groups.

Close contacts living in the same house with Covid patients are placed in a high-risk group. They must take a 5-day break and can return to work with negative rapid test results.

Low-risk close contacts can go to work as usual but must keep their mask on, have their health monitored and test negative for the virus on the third day after making contact.

According to the Business Association of Ho Chi Minh City’s Export Processing Authority and Industrial Zones (HEPZA), the city’s 18 industrial parks and export processing zones employ more than 350,000 people, who have almost all received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. He said most factories were eligible to arrange for close contacts to return to work.
