Hanoi (VNA) – The Foreign Relations Committee of the Russian city of St. Petersburg chaired a teleconferenceJanuary 24 on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations.

The participants of the event shared the view that over the 72-year history, the friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and the Soviet Union in the past and Russia in the present has been encouraged by generations of leaders and people with positive results. They affirmed that the two countries consider each other an important priority partner in their foreign policies.

They also spoke of outstanding achievements in cooperation in politics, economy, national defense, education-training, and through Party and people-to-people channels.

They reached consensus on several key areas of cooperation this year, helping to intensify the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in the near future.

The delegates expressed their belief that with great determination from both sides, the joint declaration on the vision of the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership until 2030 on the occasion of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s recent visit to Russia will be carried out. successfully, bringing bilateral relations to a greater height for their own prosperity and for peace and stability in the region and in the world./.
