Bilateral trade in the first eight months of this year saw good growth to reach $ 6.65 billion, doubling the figure for the same period last year. Vietnam remained among the top five investors in Cambodia with 188 projects worth more than $ 2.85 billion.

The two sides agreed to intensify trade and economic recovery after the pandemic, strengthen national cooperation in defense and security, improve the efficiency of border management and collaboration in areas of education, information and communications, culture and sport and people-to-people exchanges.

They pledged to work in close collaboration to seek solutions to the issue of legal papers for Cambodians of Vietnamese origin and ensure the proper rehousing and resettlement of Cambodians of Vietnamese origin in the Tonle Sap region.

The two sides agreed to coordinate the organization of celebrations for the 55th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations during the Vietnam-Cambodia, Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year 2022, and the 11th Provincial Cooperation and Development Conference. borders, the 19th meeting of Vietnam – Cambodia Joint Committee on Economic, Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation and other important external events to come.

They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of common interest, including the issue of the East Sea and several new developments related to regional security and stability.

The two sides pledged to closely coordinate and support each other in multilateral forums such as the United Nations, ASEAN and the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), as well as to strengthen collaboration in sub-mechanisms. regions and combine the development of the Greater Mekong Basin. -region with the ASEAN community building.

On the occasion, Rathchavy presented the main contents and priorities during the year 2022 of the Cambodian presidency of ASEAN. She expressed the wish to maintain solidarity and promote ASEAN’s central role with Vietnam and member states.

Dung asserted that Vietnam supports Cambodia’s successful organization of the 13th ASEM Summit and the role of the 2022 ASEAN Presidency.
