Vietnam has decided to donate one million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Laos to help the neighboring country fight the virus.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the announcement during a press briefing in Hanoi on January 8, highlighting the results of his talks with visiting Laotian Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh.

This is a special gift from the Vietnamese Party, State and people to the Party, State and people of Laos to support their fight against COVID-19, Prime Minister Chinh said.

He said the two prime ministers had open talks and recorded many important results in bilateral cooperation. They also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

The two Prime Ministers then launched the Vietnam – Laos, Laos – Vietnam 2022 Year of Solidarity and Friendship, with many activities to be held throughout the year to mark 60 years of diplomacy and 45 years. of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.

Laotian Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh arrived in Hanoi on the morning of January 8, starting a three-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

This is Viphavanh’s first visit to Vietnam in his capacity as Prime Minister of Laos.
