Sputnik V received the registration from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health on March 23 of this year.

“Our countries are also actively exchanging experiences and developing cooperation in research, supply and production of COVID-19 vaccines,” said the Vietnamese ambassador. According to him, Vietnam highly appreciates Russia’s success in vaccine development and its “great practical contribution to the fight against the global pandemic”.

Orders from other companies

The ambassador added that the Vietnamese authorities intend to receive around 150 million doses of vaccine by the end of the year to immunize 70% of the population over 18 years old.

“To achieve this goal, the Vietnamese authorities have made considerable efforts, negotiating and ordering vaccines from many manufacturers around the world. To date, Vietnam has entered into agreements and signed contracts for the purchase of vaccines from numerous companies, including Pfizer (United States), AstraZeneca (United Kingdom) and Sinopharm (China) ”, he said. declared.

To date, Vietnam has received more than 18 million doses of vaccines from various sources: through the COVAX mechanism, humanitarian aid, sales contracts with many countries and partners such as Russia, the United States, the Japan, China, UK, Australia and others.

Earlier, it was reported that Vietnam would hold negotiations with Russia on the purchase of 40 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine.
