Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Commerce Nguyen Hong Dien held a virtual meeting with the U.S. Trade RepresentativeAmbassador Katherine Taiand Singaporean Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong.

The event focused on regional cooperation frameworks, economic connectivity initiatives, and cooperation through bilateral frameworks such as the Vietnam-US Trade and Investment Framework Agreement and the United States. others that Vietnam and Singapore agreed upon during President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s state visit to the city-state in late February. .

Officials discussed directions for economic and trade partnerships to address the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, resolve disruptions in global supply chains and revive economic growth.

They shared the view on the need to pursue in-depth cooperation, consultation and discussion on issues of common concern to promote Vietnam’s trade and economic relations with the United States and Singapore.

They also discussed the implementation of free trade agreements to which Vietnam and Singapore are parties, as well as the development of cooperation frameworks with the participation of the United States and other countries.

During the meeting, the officials also discussed issues related to ASEAN-US cooperation with a view to preparing for a special ASEAN-US summit to be held soon./.
