Hanoi (VNA) – The Translational Health Science & Technology Institute (THSTI) of India will evaluate the immunogenicity of the Made-in-Vietnam vaccine candidate Nanocovax COVID-19 developed by Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology of Vietnam.

A memorandum of understanding to this effect was signed at a ceremony held in Faridabad, India’s Haryana state, on September 23.

Under the agreement, Nanogen will send cell samples from volunteers participating in the third phase of the Nanocovax trial to THSTI for evaluation.

Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau said the collaboration with THSTI is of significant importance to Nanogen in the research and development of the vaccine candidate.

The Indian institute’s objective evaluation will help confirm the quality of Nanocovax and will serve as the basis for Nanogen to produce the local COVID-19 vaccine for home use as well as for export.

THSTI is an institute of the Department of Biotechnology of the Ministry of Science and Technology of India. He has participated in various vaccine developments, evaluations and trials in the country.

Nanogen is working with relevant Vietnamese agencies to intensify testing of the vaccine candidate so that it will soon receive approval for emergency use in Vietnam./.
