Bangkok (VNA) – CEO and Chairman of Thai Beverage (ThaiBev) Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi praised the measures taken by the Vietnamese government to curb the spread of COVID-19 and pledged to support Vietnam in the fight.

He made the remark during a working session with Vietnam’s Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh on September 29 to discuss methods to boost Thai company’s investments in Vietnam amid COVID- 19.

Sirivadhanabhakdi briefed the Vietnamese diplomat on ThaiBev’s investment strategy in Vietnam as well as his measures to maintain operations in the context of the ongoing pandemic.

He said the Thai company will continue its long-term investments in Vietnam, not only in beverages but also in other areas of agriculture, real estate, tourism and insurance-finance.

It will endeavor to attract major investors from developed countries to Vietnam in order to set up partnerships around green and sustainable development objectives.

On this occasion, ThaiBev announced its decision to present 3 million surgical masks worth approximately VND 10 billion (approximately USD 440,000) manufactured by the firm to the Vietnamese government.

The Thai firm has deployed activities to support the
Vietnamese community in Thailand in the fight against COVID-19.

For his part, Ambassador Thanh assured that the Vietnamese government is making efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 and create favorable conditions for businesses in the “new normal”.

The Vietnamese government is ready to receive recommendations and work with Thai companies operating in Vietnam amid the difficulties caused by the pandemic, as well as discuss with ThaiBev measures to maintain and recover its operations in Vienam, the diplomat said. .
